About

Jones Corral Guard Station is a historic cabin built in 1935, located on Mount Dutton at the northern end of the Powell Ranger District in Dixie National Forest. Situated at the edge of a scenic meadow surrounded by aspens and spruce, it has served generations of Forest Service employees and now offers rustic overnight accommodations for recreationists. The cabin sleeps 4 comfortably (6 maximum) with two sets of bunk beds and a double futon with foam pads. Guests must bring their own bedding, cookware, and utensils. The kitchen has a propane stove and oven, table, and chairs. A wood stove provides heat. There is no potable water, so visitors must bring all drinking, cooking, and washing water. A vault toilet with toilet paper is provided. The facility is pack-in/pack-out. The guard station is an ideal base camp for accessing the Fremont OHV Trail, hunting trophy game on Mount Dutton, hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Access requires a high-clearance vehicle via Forest Road 125 or 126, approximately 12 miles of rough dirt road from Antimony.

Directions

From State Highway 89, turn east onto State Highway 62 and travel about 12 miles where it becomes State Highway 22 just north of Antimony. In Antimony, take Forest Road 125 on the west side of the road and travel approximately 12 miles on this high-clearance dirt road to reach the guard station. Alternatively, from Bryce Canyon National Park, travel north on State Highway 22 approximately 35 miles to Antimony and take Forest Road 126.
