Willow Lake

Willow Lake Campground occupies the east shore of a small alpine lake at 9,640 feet on the Wasatch Plateau in the Manti-La Sal National Forest. The 10 single-family sites are spaced among spruce, fir, and aspen trees providing partial shade, with most sites offering views of the lake. Each site has a picnic table and campfire ring. Gravel roads and parking spurs serve the campground. Vault toilets are available, but there is no potable water and no garbage service, so visitors must bring water and pack out all trash. A footpath leads from the campground to the lakeshore, and a recently developed trail encircles the entire lake with four stream crossings, two bridges, and fishing access on all sides. Canoeing and fishing are popular activities. The campground also serves as a staging area for the Arapeen OHV Trail System, which offers over 350 miles of designated trails for all skill levels. OHV use within the campground is prohibited except for entering and exiting. Nearby attractions include Ferron Reservoir to the west and Skyline Drive, a scenic route running 60 miles along the plateau with access to numerous lakes and high-elevation forests. In winter, the area attracts snowmobile enthusiasts.

Directions

From the intersection of State Route 10 (State Street) and Canyon Road in Ferron, Utah, head west on Canyon Road. Canyon Road becomes Ferron Canyon Road and then Forest Road 0022. In approximately 22 miles, turn south into the campground on Forest Road 0026.
