About
Indian Creek Guard Station sits at the edge of Ferron Reservoir, just below the Wasatch Plateau in central Utah's Manti-La Sal National Forest. Originally constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, this historic cabin served generations of forest rangers working the backcountry. The front porch offers partial lake views through stands of Engelmann spruce, fir, and aspen. The cabin sleeps four on single bunks with mattresses, and guests must bring their own linens and bedding. The kitchen is equipped with a propane stove, oven, hot water heater, sink, table, and chairs. Solar power provides lighting and phone charging. From July through mid-September, indoor plumbing is operational with a flush toilet and shower. Outside that window, a vault toilet is available 50 feet from the cabin and guests must bring their own water. Ferron Reservoir provides fishing for rainbow and cutthroat trout plus small-craft boating. The Arapeen ATV Trail System offers over 350 miles of designated trails nearby. In winter, the area transforms into a snowmobile and cross-country skiing destination, though vehicle access may require snowmobiles after significant snowfall.
