About

Rock Creek Pavilion is the most secluded group facility in the North Umpqua River Recreation Area, nestled along Rock Creek's banks and surrounded by towering old-growth forest. The pavilion accommodates up to 50 people and is equipped with drinking water, a sink, and electrical outlets, making it ideal for family gatherings and group events. The facility is adjacent to the first-come, first-served Rock Creek Campground for those wishing to camp overnight. The forested setting sits at 1,200 feet elevation in the Cascade Mountain foothills, just west of Umpqua National Forest. Rock Creek is a tributary of the North Umpqua Wild and Scenic River, designated in 1988 for its outstanding scenery. The stretch of Rock Creek near the pavilion serves as critical spawning habitat for salmon and steelhead in spring and fall, and fishing is not allowed. Recreation options include volleyball on the grass court, horseshoes, and exploring the one-mile interpretive trail through the remains of the historic Rock Creek Sawmill. Nearby, the North Umpqua River offers world-class whitewater rafting, kayaking, and fly fishing for steelhead and salmon. The renowned North Umpqua Trail, considered one of the country's top mountain biking trails, spans 79 miles following the river from its headwaters to the Rock Creek confluence.
