Hoodview Campground occupies a prime location on the southeastern shore of Timothy Lake, nestled in a mixed conifer forest with a thick understory of rhododendrons providing privacy between sites. At 3,400 feet elevation, the campground offers views of Mt. Hood across the roughly 1,400-acre reservoir, which was created in 1956 for the Oak Grove Hydroelectric Project. The campground provides approximately 45 sites split between standard nonelectric sites and smaller hike-to sites near the water. Each standard site includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill. Potable water and accessible vault toilets are available throughout the campground. A boat launch is available exclusively for registered campers, supporting boating, sailing, and fishing for kokanee salmon and trout. The Timothy Lake Trail offers 12 miles of relatively level terrain popular with hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians. It connects to the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail. The historic Clackamas Lake Ranger Station is less than 3 miles away, and Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood is about 28 miles distant.

Directions

From Sandy, Oregon, travel east on Highway 26 for approximately 40 miles to Skyline Road/Road 42. Turn right on Skyline Road and continue south for about 9 miles. Turn right on Forest Service Road 57 and travel west for 2 miles, then turn right at the Hoodview Campground entrance sign.
