About

Gone Creek Campground sits on the south shore of Timothy Lake, a 1,400-acre reservoir in the shadows of Mt. Hood, Oregon's highest peak at 11,250 feet. Located at 3,400 feet elevation within Mt. Hood National Forest, the campground is surrounded by lush Pacific Northwest forest and offers direct access to the lake for swimming, fishing, and boating. The campground features 49 single and double sites suitable for tents and RVs up to 32 feet. Each site includes a picnic table and campfire ring with grill on a gravel pad. Facilities include accessible vault toilets and drinking water from hand pumps. A boat launch is available exclusively for registered campers, with motorized boats restricted to 10 mph on the lake. Recreation opportunities abound, including the 12-mile Timothy Lake Trail that loops around the lake on relatively level terrain, popular with hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians. Anglers target kokanee salmon and various trout species. The nearby Clackamas Lake Historic Cabin offers a glimpse into the area's heritage with its preserved rock chimney and hand-wrought ironwork.
