About

Oak Fork Campground occupies a prime spot on the southeastern shore of Timothy Lake, a 1,400-acre reservoir nestled at 3,400 feet in the shadow of Mt. Hood. The surrounding old-growth forest provides a scenic backdrop for camping, with 36 standard single-family sites, six rustic cabins, and eight walk-in tent sites for those seeking a quieter experience. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table and fire grill, and the campground has accessible vault toilets and drinking water from hand pumps. Timothy Lake is the main attraction, offering excellent fishing for kokanee salmon, rainbow trout, and brook trout. A 10 mph speed limit keeps motorized boat traffic manageable, making it popular for kayaking, canoeing, and sailing. A large lakeshore parking area serves boaters. The Timothy Lake Trail loops 12 miles around the lake on relatively flat terrain, open to hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians. The campground is operated by PGE Parks and Recreation and accepts reservations through Recreation.gov. Day use hours run from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Generators are permitted from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. only. Pets are allowed on leash at tent and RV sites but restricted at most cabin sites. The 32-foot vehicle limit and lack of hookups make this campground better suited for tent campers and smaller RV rigs.
