About
Cold Water Cove Campground offers stunning views of Clear Lake's turquoise waters and the surrounding 3,000-year-old lava fields in Oregon's Cascade Range. The campground provides 34 sites (31 single, 3 double) that accommodate vehicles from 18 to 50 feet depending on the site. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, with vault toilets and hand-pump drinking water available. Sites #7 and #10 are ADA accessible. Clear Lake is renowned for its exceptionally clear water and preserved submerged forest. The lake is restricted to non-motorized boats, making it ideal for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing for brook, rainbow, and cutthroat trout. A boat launch and fish cleaning station are located within the campground, and boat rentals are available at the adjacent Clear Lake Resort. The McKenzie River National Recreation Trail runs through the campground and offers 26 miles of hiking and mountain biking. Short trails connect to Sahalie and Koosah Falls, spectacular waterfalls located within a mile. On clear days, views of the Three Sisters and Mount Washington are visible. The McKenzie Pass-Santiam Pass National Scenic Byway and Mt. Washington Wilderness are also nearby.
Directions
From McKenzie Bridge, OR, travel east on Highway 126 for 18 miles to the Clear Lake Area. Before reaching Clear Lake, turn right on Forest Road 770, heading northeast 1 mile to Cold Water Cove Campground at the end of the road.
