About

Ice Cap Campground occupies a scenic forest setting in the McKenzie River Ranger District of the Willamette National Forest. Situated on a bluff overlooking the McKenzie River and Carmen Reservoir, the campground is surrounded by towering Douglas fir, western red cedar, and hemlock trees. Ice Cap Creek flows along the eastern boundary of the campground, adding to the serene atmosphere. The campground features 22 sites total, including 9 walk-in tent-only sites and standard sites that can accommodate trailers up to 20 feet. Each site includes a fire ring and picnic table. Two double vault toilet buildings (wheelchair accessible) serve the campground, and potable water is available from a hand pump. A campground host is present during the season, and firewood is available for purchase. Recreation opportunities abound in the area. The McKenzie River National Recreation Trail is a premier hiking and mountain biking destination accessible from the campground. Carmen Reservoir offers fishing and non-motorized boating less than a mile away. The famous Koosah and Sahalie Falls are nearby with a 3-mile loop trail connecting them. Hot springs, river access, and additional boat ramps are within ten miles.
