Ice Cap Campground
Open for the 2026 season, operating May through September. The campground has both reservable and first-come, first-served sites. Reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance on Recreation.gov. Fire bans are common during summer months. Quiet hours are 10 PM to 6 AM, and chainsaws are prohibited.
Alcohol Prohibitions
This Order describes acts that are prohibited upon lands, roads and trails within the National Forest System administered by the Forest Service Pacific Northwest Region in regards to alcoholic beverages.
Aquatic Invasive Species
This Order prohibits 1) possessing, storing, or transporting any aquatic invasive animal species AND 2) prohibits possessing, storing, or transporting any aquatic or riparian invasive plant species - on National Forest System lands in the Pacific Northwest Region as specified in the Order.
Restrictions on Use of Forage and Mulch Products

About
Ice Cap Campground occupies a scenic forest setting in the McKenzie River Ranger District of the Willamette National Forest. Situated on a bluff overlooking the McKenzie River and Carmen Reservoir, the campground is surrounded by towering Douglas fir, western red cedar, and hemlock trees. Ice Cap Creek flows along the eastern boundary of the campground, adding to the serene atmosphere. The campground features 22 sites total, including 9 walk-in tent-only sites and standard sites that can accommodate trailers up to 20 feet. Each site includes a fire ring and picnic table. Two double vault toilet buildings (wheelchair accessible) serve the campground, and potable water is available from a hand pump. A campground host is present during the season, and firewood is available for purchase. Recreation opportunities abound in the area. The McKenzie River National Recreation Trail is a premier hiking and mountain biking destination accessible from the campground. Carmen Reservoir offers fishing and non-motorized boating less than a mile away. The famous Koosah and Sahalie Falls are nearby with a 3-mile loop trail connecting them. Hot springs, river access, and additional boat ramps are within ten miles.
Directions
From McKenzie Bridge, travel 17.3 miles east on Highway 126. Turn left at the Ice Cap Campground/Koosah Falls sign. Follow signs approximately half a mile to the campground.
