China Meadows Trailhead Campground is a seasonal primitive campground located at 10,000 feet elevation on the northern slope of Utah's Uinta Mountains. The small, timbered campground provides 11 single campsites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilet facilities are available, but there is no potable water on site, so campers must bring all water needed for their stay. The campground serves as a primary staging area for backcountry exploration of the High Uinta Wilderness. Popular activities include hiking, fishing, canoeing, horseback riding, and ATV riding on designated trails in the surrounding area. Numerous alpine lakes, including nearby China Lake, offer fishing and paddling opportunities. The rugged Uinta landscape features beautiful canyons, soaring peaks, and pristine waterways. The campground operates seasonally from late May through mid-September and is first-come, first-served. Gate hours are 7am to 10pm daily, with quiet hours enforced from 10pm to 6am. Pets are allowed on a leash not exceeding six feet, with a maximum of two dogs per site.

Directions

From Mountain View, WY, take State Route 410 south approximately 8 miles. Where the highway makes a sharp right turn to the west, continue straight onto Uinta County Road 283 (gravel). Follow to Forest Service Road 072 and continue past Stateline Campground and China Meadows Campground to the China Meadows Trailhead.
