About
Somerfield North Recreation Area is a lakeside day-use and group picnic facility managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on Youghiogheny River Lake in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. The site features a reservable non-electric pavilion with picnic tables and grills situated close to restroom facilities and directly on the lake shore. The recreation area provides access to the 16-mile-long Youghiogheny River Lake through a public boat launch ramp and courtesy dock. Popular activities include swimming, boating, kayaking, and paddleboarding. The facility is conveniently located on Route 40 in Addison, directly across from Yough Lake Marina, where visitors can rent paddleboards, kayaks, and pontoon boats. Alcohol is not permitted at the shelter. The site serves primarily as a day-use picnic area rather than a traditional campground, making it ideal for group gatherings, lakeside recreation, and water sports access in the scenic Laurel Highlands region of southwestern Pennsylvania.
