About
Zuya Group Center sits beneath an old-growth oak canopy on a wooded hillside overlooking Lake Shetek, the largest lake in southwestern Minnesota. Built in 1940 by the Works Progress Administration as part of Roosevelt's New Deal programs, this historic group center is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The facility accommodates up to 84 overnight guests across three cabins (each sleeping 24 in bunkbeds) and a recreation hall with additional bunks for 12.
The dining hall features a commercial kitchen equipped with a 6-burner stove, two ovens, griddle, walk-in cooler, freezer, and refrigerator, along with a stone fireplace and seating for 96. Separate men's and women's bathrooms with showers are available, plus two individual ADA-accessible bathroom/shower rooms. Outdoor recreation includes horseshoe pits, volleyball court, bean bag toss boards, and a council ring with central fire pit.
Reservations must be made by calling the park directly. The center operates from mid-May through September. Guests must bring their own sleeping bags and bedding. RVs and tents require prior permission. Rental equipment including kayaks, canoes, rowboats, and paddleboards is available at the park.
