About

Sunrise Campground is located within Lake Shetek State Park, the largest lake in southwestern Minnesota. This modern campground provides 32 sites with full hookups including sewer, water, and 50 amp electric service, making it ideal for RVs and larger camping units. The campground features two picnic shelters equipped with solar panels, reflecting the park's commitment to sustainability. The park surrounds Lake Shetek, a popular destination for fishing, boating, and swimming. The lake is home to walleye, northern pike, crappies, perch, catfish, and bullheads. Visitors can explore Loon Island via a historic WPA-built causeway, hike miles of trails through tallgrass prairie, or bike the Casey Jones State Trail's Currie Loop which connects the park to the nearby town of Currie. Lake Shetek State Park holds historical significance as the site of early European settlement and events from the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862. The Koch Cabin, the only remaining structure from the original settlement, features interpretive displays. The park offers year-round recreation including winter activities like ice fishing for crappies.
