About

Prairie Campground sits on the upper bluff area of Camden State Park, perched above the wooded Redwood River valley in southwestern Minnesota. This semi-modern campground offers 45 sites, with 21 featuring electrical hookups. The prairie setting provides an open, sunlit atmosphere with fewer mosquitoes compared to the lower riverside areas. The campground can accommodate large RVs, with sites suitable for rigs up to 50-60 feet in length. Camden State Park features diverse landscapes where prairie grasslands meet hardwood forests along the Redwood River. Visitors can explore over 10 miles of hiking trails, including the Dakota Valley Trail that climbs to a scenic overlook offering expansive views. The park offers fishing for brown trout in the Redwood River and bass and bluegill in Brawner Lake. During summer, a spring-fed swimming pool and beach provide refreshing recreation. The park maintains trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter, with snowmobile access available on designated routes. Camden State Park is located near Marshall, Minnesota, providing convenient access to southwestern Minnesota's prairie-forest transition zone. The park offers reservable picnic shelters, a group camp, and a primitive horse camp with 12 sites for equestrian campers.
