About

Camden State Park Campground occupies a unique landscape where prairie meets river valley in Lyon County, Minnesota. The campground is divided into two distinct areas: the lower loop nestles among trees along the Redwood River with 25 electric sites and proximity to park amenities, while the upper loop sits on the open prairie with 21 electric sites and expansive views. All sites include parking spurs, fire rings with grates, and picnic tables, with modern restroom facilities and hot showers nearby. Beyond the main campground, the park offers 12 equestrian campsites with horse tie-ups and group camping facilities. Recreational opportunities include fishing for brown trout in the Redwood River, bass and bluegill in Brawner Lake, swimming in the spring-fed pool, and canoeing. The Dakota Valley Trail climbs to an overlook with excellent fall color viewing. A park office and gift shop sells firewood, ice, and recreation rentals. The campground operates year-round, though winter camping (December 1 through March 31) is limited to 35 sites with reduced facilities. Reservations can be made through the Minnesota State Parks reservation system up to 120 days in advance.
