About

Oak Woods Campground at Lake Shetek State Park offers a variety of camping options beneath a canopy of old-growth oak trees in southwestern Minnesota's prairie region. The campground features 32 electric sites with 50 amp service, 6 non-electric rustic sites, 7 cart-in sites for those seeking a more secluded lakeside experience, and 4 camper cabins that sleep up to six guests. Three sites offer pull-through access. Lake Shetek is the largest lake in southwestern Minnesota, created by glaciers roughly 12,000 years ago. The park provides opportunities for swimming, fishing, boating, and hiking on over 14 miles of trails, including 7.5 miles of accessible trails. The campground's location provides easy access to the lake for water activities. The cart-in sites provide carts for transporting gear to lakeside locations and include tent pads. All standard campsites are large and open with good spacing, though they offer limited privacy. The park has historical significance related to the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862, with monuments and historic sites throughout.
