Gun Lake Campground sits within the 5,200-acre Yankee Springs Recreation Area, offering 200 modern campsites along the shore of Gun Lake. The campground features paved site pads with electric hookups ranging from 20 to 50 amps, modern restroom facilities with flush toilets and hot showers, and a dump station. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring or grill. The campground provides direct access to Gun Lake's sandy beach and swimming area, along with a dedicated camper boat launch and fishing pier. Gun Lake offers quality fishing for bass, bluegill, and pike from shore or boat. The surrounding recreation area features an extensive trail network used for hiking, trail running, mountain biking, and winter activities including snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. The campground operates from approximately April through November, with semi-modern facilities available first-come, first-served in early spring before the main season begins around mid-May. Note that the Gun Lake contact station is currently closed due to a structural fire; campers should check in at the welcome center at the Gun Lake day-use entrance.
