About

Newaygo State Park is a 400-acre park situated on the Hardy Dam Pond, a scenic 6-mile flooding of the Muskegon River. The park features two rustic campgrounds: Oak (sites 1-48) and Poplar (sites 49-99), both known for exceptionally large and private sites with mature forest buffers between them. The setting provides a peaceful escape with water views from many sites. The park offers a range of recreational opportunities including an 18-hole disc golf course, a boating access site between the two campgrounds, and a buoyed swim area located within the Poplar Campground. Anglers can pursue walleye, bass, and panfish in the Hardy Dam Pond. Kayak rentals are available seasonally at the campground office. As a rustic campground, amenities are basic but well-maintained: vault toilets and hand-pumped water stations are distributed throughout both loops. The sanitation station near the campground office provides potable water and RV dump facilities. A Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry.
