Grand Haven Campground

Grand Haven State Park's 48-acre modern campground sits along a half-mile stretch of Lake Michigan beach at the mouth of the Grand River. The 174 paved campsites all feature electric hookups (30/50 amp) and picnic tables, arranged more closely than typical state park campgrounds to maximize the beachfront setting. This unique layout means you're essentially camping on the sand, with the designated swim beach and Grand River pier just steps away. The campground provides modern amenities including flush restrooms, hot showers, drinking water, and a sanitation station with two lanes. An on-site camp store (Simple Adventures) sells firewood and supplies, and food vendors including Electric Hero sandwiches and The Wandering Cow ice cream operate nearby. Fire rings are not provided, but campers may bring portable fire pits that are at least 6 inches above the sand and fully enclosed. The park offers strong accessibility features including ADA-designated sites, an accessible walkway to the water, and beach wheelchairs and a track chair available at no cost from the campground office. Pets are allowed on leash (6 feet max) but are prohibited on the beach. Due to extreme popularity, especially on summer weekends, reservations should be made exactly six months in advance of your desired date.
