About
Young State Park Campground is situated on the eastern shore of Lake Charlevoix near Boyne City, spanning 563 acres of gently rolling terrain, lowlands, and cedar swamp. Established in 1921, the park offers three modern campground areas: Oak (41 sites), Terrace (41 sites), and Spruce (158 sites). All campgrounds provide electrical hookups, modern toilet and shower buildings, and pull-through sites with some 50-amp service available. The park features 1.5 miles of Lake Charlevoix shoreline with a designated sandy swimming beach, a boat launch at the Terrace Campground, and a fishing pier at Mirror Pond. Recreation includes 6.5 miles of hiking trails suitable for cross-country skiing in winter, disc golf, paddlesport rentals, and excellent fishing on Lake Charlevoix. The day-use building, constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, houses Lake to Lake concessions offering snacks and souvenirs. The park serves as access point to the Boyne City to Charlevoix Trail, a 14-mile nonmotorized path. Campers have access to overflow parking for boat storage, sanitation stations, recycling facilities, and modern amenities throughout. The nearby towns of Charlevoix, Boyne City, and East Jordan provide additional dining and shopping options.
