About
Young State Park's Oak Campground occupies a prime location on the eastern shore of Lake Charlevoix near Boyne City in northern Michigan. The campground is nestled among large oak trees that provide partial shade, and campers enjoy direct access to one of Michigan's most beautiful inland lakes. The park spans 563 acres of gently rolling terrain, lowlands, and cedar swamp. The Oak loop is one of three modern campgrounds at Young State Park, alongside Terrace and Spruce. Sites feature electric hookups (20/30 amp service), fire rings, and picnic tables. Modern restroom facilities include flush toilets and hot showers. A sanitation station is available for RV waste disposal. A paved walkway connects the campground to the day-use area with its popular swimming beach. The park offers nearly 6.5 miles of hiking trails, a boat launch suitable for vessels under 16 feet, fishing opportunities, and winter activities including cross-country skiing. Lake Charlevoix covers 17,260 acres and provides excellent recreational boating and fishing.
