Special Weather Statement issued May 22 at 11:08AM EDT by NWS Gaylord MI
The combination of dry surface conditions, low afternoon relative humidity values, and gusty east to southeast winds will result in elevated fire danger conditions across northern lower Michigan this. Sustained winds of 7 to 15 mph with gusts of 20 to 30 mph will be seen over northern Michigan this afternoon. Minimum relative humidity values of 20 to 35 percent are expected over much of northern lower Michigan. These conditions could lead to rapid spread of fires. Check burning restrictions and fire danger before burning. For more information on burning restrictions for Michigan, see www.dnr.state.mi.us//.
About
Located on the southeast shore of Burt Lake in Cheboygan County, Burt Lake State Park encompasses 406 acres of northern Michigan wilderness. The 27-square-mile lake is one of Michigan's largest inland lakes and renowned for its walleye fishery. The park features 2,000 feet of sandy shoreline with a shallow designated swimming area, making it ideal for families. The modern campground contains over 300 sites divided into east and west loops. Lakeside sites are large and sunny, while interior sites are shaded by oaks, maples, and pines. All sites feature electric hookups, with roughly two-thirds offering 20/30-amp service and the remainder providing 50-amp service. There are no water or sewer hookups at individual sites, but freshwater spigots are scattered throughout and a two-lane sanitation station with potable water is available. Four modern restroom buildings with flush toilets and hot showers serve the campground. A park store provides basic supplies. The campground is conveniently located near the swimming beach, boat ramp, playground with swings and slides, and picnic areas. Pets are welcome throughout the park except at the designated swimming beach, and a dog beach is located at the south end of the park.
Directions
