About

Tannery Creek is one of two modern campgrounds within Petoskey State Park, located three miles northeast of downtown Petoskey along M-119. The 98-site campground occupies a wooded setting with paved pads and electric hookups ranging from 20 to 50 amp service. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, with modern restroom facilities offering flush toilets and hot showers. The park's main draw is its mile-long sandy beach on Little Traverse Bay, known for exceptional Petoskey stone hunting. Two trails explore the park: the half-mile Old Baldy loop climbs to panoramic bay views, while the one-mile Portage Trail follows a historic Native American route. Two mini cabins, Trillium and Orchid, offer an alternative to tent or RV camping. Pets are allowed in the campground but prohibited along the shoreline to protect nesting piping plovers. The park provides accessible amenities including a floating beach wheelchair and track chair available for visitor use.
