Special Weather Statement issued May 22 at 11:08AM EDT by NWS Gaylord MI
The combination of dry surface conditions, low afternoon relative humidity values, and gusty east to southeast winds will result in elevated fire danger conditions across northern lower Michigan this. Sustained winds of 7 to 15 mph with gusts of 20 to 30 mph will be seen over northern Michigan this afternoon. Minimum relative humidity values of 20 to 35 percent are expected over much of northern lower Michigan. These conditions could lead to rapid spread of fires. Check burning restrictions and fire danger before burning. For more information on burning restrictions for Michigan, see www.dnr.state.mi.us//.
About
Aloha State Park is located on the northeast shore of Mullett Lake, one of Michigan's largest inland lakes, in the northern tip of the Lower Peninsula near the Straits of Mackinac. The 100-acre park centers around its modern campground offering approximately 285 sites across multiple loops. Site options include full hookups with electric, water, and sewer; partial hookups with electric and water; electric-only sites; and rustic sites. Electrical service ranges from 20-amp to 50-amp depending on the site. Many waterfront sites offer direct lake views but book quickly during peak season. The campground features modern facilities including flush restrooms with hot showers scattered throughout the loops, a sanitation/dump station, and communal water spigots. A camp store provides basic supplies and concessions. Each campsite includes a fire ring and picnic table. Beyond camping, the park offers a designated swimming beach, a boat launch with a protected boat basin where campers can leave watercraft during their stay, and a playground for families. The park serves as an excellent base for exploring the Inland Waterway, a historic 38-mile chain of rivers and lakes connecting Cheboygan to Conway. Anglers target walleye, bass, and pike in Mullett Lake's clear waters. The surrounding area offers access to the Straits of Mackinac, Mackinaw City, and the historic attractions of northern Michigan.
Directions
From Cheboygan, take US-23 north approximately 12 miles to Third Street. Turn right onto Third Street and continue to the park entrance at 4347 Third Street, Cheboygan, MI 49721.
