About

Fisherman's Island State Park campground provides a quintessential rustic camping experience on Michigan's northwestern Lower Peninsula, just 4 miles south of downtown Charlevoix. The 80 sites are spread across three loops within the park's 2,678 acres of rolling dunes, hardwood forests of maple, birch, and aspen, and bogs of cedar and black spruce. The campground caters to tent campers and those with compact camping units. Sites feature fire rings and picnic tables. Vault toilets and hand-pumped water are available in each loop. No modern amenities such as showers, flush toilets, or electrical hookups exist here. Fifteen sites occupy the prized dune area along the Lake Michigan shoreline, offering direct beach access and sunset views. A 2.5-mile hiking trail winds through the park. The rocky shoreline reveals Petoskey stones and other fossils. Reservations are available May 1 through September 14 via MiDNRReservations.com, with sites becoming first-come, first-served from September 15 through November 30.
