About
York River State Park encompasses 2,505 acres along the south bank of the York River in James City County, Virginia. The park preserves one of Virginia's most significant coastal estuary environments, where the mixing of freshwater and saltwater creates a brackish marsh ecosystem rich in marine life and diverse plant species. Fossils from the Miocene epoch, millions of years old, can still be found along the shoreline.
The park features an extensive trail system with over 40 miles of paths designated for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The Taskinas Creek area offers exceptional opportunities for kayaking and canoeing through tidal marshes. A fishing pier, boat ramp, and seasonal boat rentals provide water access, while the visitor center offers exhibits on the unique estuarine ecosystem and Native American history of the area.

Directions
From I-64, take Exit 231B (Croaker Road/Route 607 North). Travel north on Croaker Road for approximately 1 mile, then turn right onto Riverview Road. The park entrance is on the left.
