Belle Isle State Park Picnic Shelters
Open — The park is open dawn to dusk year-round. The visitor center is open daily, and the camp store is open Thursday through Sunday. Picnic shelters are available for reservation year-round from sunrise until the park closes.
About
Belle Isle State Park features three reservable picnic shelters situated along seven miles of shoreline on the Northern Neck's Rappahannock River. Two shelters (Humphreys and Rappahannock) overlook the historic Rappahannock River and offer beach access for fishing, accommodating up to 70 people within each shelter and an additional 40 around them. Both include grills, picnic tables, electrical outlets at Humphreys Shelter, and are within 100-200 feet of parking, restrooms, and a playground. The Deep Creek Shelter overlooks Deep Creek, accommodates up to 24 within and 20 outside, and is accessible by boat. The park's 892 acres encompass diverse tidal wetlands interspersed with farmland and upland forests, providing habitat for blue herons, osprey, hawks, bald eagles, and white-tailed deer. Visitors can explore nearly 10 miles of trails, a universally accessible boardwalk and fishing pier, and enjoy canoe, kayak, and bicycle rentals seasonally. The park features a visitor center open daily, a camp store open Thursday through Sunday, and boat launches for both motorboats and car-top watercraft.
