About
Yellowjacket Creek Recreation Area is a day-use facility on West Point Lake managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Located approximately two miles west of LaGrange off Georgia Highway 109, this site provides access to one of Georgia's largest reservoirs for swimming and boating activities. The designated swim beach operates seasonally from May through Labor Day, with hours from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The boat launch facilities remain open year-round for lake access. A non-electric group shelter is available for reservation and can accommodate up to 54 people with parking for 14 vehicles. Note that this is a day-use recreation area, not an overnight campground. No camping sites are available at this location. For overnight camping at West Point Lake, visitors should consider other Corps campgrounds in the area such as R Shaefer Heard, Whitetail Ridge, or Holiday.
Directions
Take Georgia Highway 109 approximately two miles west of LaGrange and turn right on Whitaker Road. Go to the T-intersection and turn left on Cameron Mill Road. Turn right into the Yellowjacket boat ramp area; the shelter is immediately to the left.
