About
Long Cane Recreation Area is a day-use park located on West Point Lake, conveniently situated between West Point and LaGrange, Georgia. Managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers, the park offers recreational opportunities including hiking trails, boat launching facilities, and lakefront picnic areas. The facility features two reservable group shelters available through Recreation.gov. Shelter #1 accommodates up to 42 people with electric hookup and parking for 20 vehicles. Shelter #2 is a non-electric shelter for up to 30 people with parking for 14 vehicles. Both shelters are lakefront drive-in sites suitable for group gatherings, reunions, and events. This is a day-use recreation area, not an overnight campground. The shelters operate on a day-rental basis with check-in at 9:00-10:00 AM and check-out by 9:00 PM. Special event permits may be required for weddings, tournaments, or large gatherings. Pets are allowed on leashes under six feet but are not permitted on beaches.
