About

Earl Cook Recreation Area is a popular day-use destination on West Point Lake, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Located approximately six miles north of West Point off Highway 29, the area provides easy access from Interstate 85. The recreation area features two reservable group shelters with electric service, ideal for events such as weddings, fishing tournaments, or large gatherings. Year-round boat launching facilities provide lake access, while seasonal amenities include a swim beach, ball fields, and playground. Day-use vehicle passes cost $5 per vehicle ($20 for commercial/bus), payable by credit or debit card at the self-service fee station. This facility does not offer overnight camping. For overnight camping at West Point Lake, visitors should consider nearby campgrounds such as Glass Bridge Park, Anderson Park, or Sunny Point Park.

Directions

From West Point take Highway 29 north approximately six miles to the sign on the left for Earl Cook Park. Turn left on Lower Glass Bridge Road which dead ends at Earl Cook Park.
