Earl Cook Recreation Area on West Point Lake is a popular day-use destination managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, offering diverse recreational opportunities with convenient access from Interstate 85. The facility provides year-round boat launching capabilities, while seasonal amenities include a swim beach, two picnic pavilions, ball fields, and a playground. Two group shelters with electric hookups are available for reservation through Recreation.gov and can accommodate up to 30 people. The lakefront location provides excellent opportunities for boating, fishing, and water recreation. Day-use vehicle fees apply at $5 per vehicle, payable at the self-service fee station. The park maintains strict guidelines including prohibitions on alcohol, golf carts, ATVs, and pets on the beach, while requiring pets elsewhere to be leashed.

Directions

From West Point, take Highway 29 north approximately six miles to the sign on the left for Earl Cook Park. Turn left on Lower Glass Bridge Road which dead ends at Earl Cook Park. Take the first left, then the first right to the shelter.
