Rocky Point Shelter

Rocky Point Recreation Area

Open

The recreation area is open year-round, though the swim beach only operates from May through Labor Day. Group shelters are available for reservation or on a first-come, first-served basis when not reserved. This is a day-use facility with picnic shelters, not a traditional campground with individual camping sites.

About

Rocky Point Recreation Area is one of the designated swim beaches on West Point Lake, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The sandy beach operates seasonally from May through Labor Day, while the boat launch facilities, fishing pier, and picnic areas remain open year-round. The facility offers three group shelters for reservation, including one with a 15-amp electric hookup that can accommodate up to 168 people. Shelters are priced at $75 per night and can be reserved through Recreation.gov. Day-use visitors pay $5 per vehicle or $20 per bus at the self-service fee station near the gatehouse. Note that this is primarily a day-use area with group shelter rentals rather than a traditional campground with individual tent or RV sites. The location is unstaffed, and visitors should be self-sufficient. Pets are permitted on leash but are not allowed on the beach.
