About

Yellow Gap Roadside Campsites are part of the Pisgah Ranger District's designated roadside camping system along Forest Service Road 1206 (Yellow Gap Road). The camping area features multiple primitive sites spread along this gravel forest road, each marked with a brown tent sign and numbered for identification. Sites include designated tent pads, fire rings, and parking areas, though parking may require a short walk from the campsite itself. The roadside camping area is known for its scenic forest setting with large, well-spaced campsites that provide a sense of seclusion. Many sites offer proximity to rushing water and beautiful foraging, particularly notable during fall foliage season. Yellow Gap Road connects North Mills River Recreation Area to Wolf Ford Horse Camp and provides access to extensive trail networks in the Pisgah National Forest. As designated roadside sites in the Pisgah Ranger District, these campsites are managed under specific regulations to minimize environmental impact. Campers must stay only at marked sites and practice Leave No Trace principles, packing out all trash as there is no trash service. The area operates on a first-come, first-served basis with a 14-consecutive-night maximum stay limit.
