About

North Mills River Campground offers a shady, secluded mountain getaway in the Pisgah National Forest of western North Carolina. Situated at an elevation of 2,200 feet in the Appalachian Mountains, the campground is surrounded by densely forested hardwood slopes and mile-high peaks. The scenic North Mills River flows through the campground, providing excellent trout fishing and popular tubing and swimming spots that families especially enjoy. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the extensive trail network in the Mills River watershed, one of the largest trail complexes in Pisgah National Forest. Mountain biking and hiking opportunities abound, with several trails accessible directly from the campground. Educational programs are offered during summer months for visitors wanting to learn more about the area's natural and cultural history. Located just outside Asheville, the campground provides convenient access to numerous cultural and natural attractions. The Blue Ridge Parkway, Looking Glass Falls, and Sliding Rock are among the most popular nearby destinations. The town of Brevard offers various amenities and services, while Asheville provides art galleries, music venues, shops, and restaurants. Sites include picnic tables, tent pads, and lantern hooks, with flush toilets, showers in a bathhouse, and firewood available for purchase.

From Asheville, take U.S. Highway 280 west to North Mills River Road. Follow North Mills River Road to the campground at 5119 N. Mills River Road, Mills River, NC 28742.
