About
Located on the shores of Worthen Meadow Reservoir in the Shoshone National Forest, Worthen Meadow Campground sits at approximately 8,800 feet elevation and offers 28 campsites in a scenic mountain setting. The campground serves as a gateway to the Popo Agie Wilderness, with trailheads providing direct access to backcountry hiking and backpacking opportunities in the Wind River Range. Each campsite features a picnic table, fire ring with cooking grate, and bear-proof food storage box, as food storage is required due to bear activity in the area. The campground provides vault toilets and potable water via hand pump. The reservoir offers opportunities for non-motorized boating and fishing, while the surrounding forest provides excellent wildlife viewing and scenery. A nearby boat ramp facilitates water access. This is a first-come, first-served facility with no advance reservations. The campground operates seasonally from approximately Memorial Day through Labor Day, though exact dates vary based on weather and snow conditions. Maximum trailer length is 24 feet, and the stay limit is 16 consecutive days. Cash or check payment is required.
Directions
From Lander, go 10 miles south on State Highway 131, then 8.5 miles on Forest Road 300.
