About
Dickinson Creek Campground sits near the boundary of the Popo Agie Wilderness in Shoshone National Forest, offering 15 primitive campsites for tents and small trailers. The remote setting provides access to some of Wyoming's finest backcountry, with trails leading to numerous mountain lakes including Shoshone Lake. The campground is free to use and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with a 16-day stay limit. Amenities are basic but functional: two vault toilets serve the campground, and each site has a picnic table and cook grate. There is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. Bear boxes are available and food storage is required due to bear activity in the area. Pack out all trash as there is no garbage service. The campground is accessed via 19 miles of Forest Road 329 (Moccasin Lake Road) which requires crossing Wind River Indian Reservation lands. All visitors must purchase tribal fishing licenses to use this road. No cell service is available at the campground.
Directions
From Lander, travel 15 miles northwest on U.S. Highway 26/287. Turn left (west) at Hines Store, then travel southwest for 19 miles on Moccasin Lake Road (Forest Road 329). A tribal fishing license is required for all party members to cross Wind River Indian Reservation lands.
