About
Little Popo Agie Campground is a small, primitive campground tucked into the Shoshone National Forest along the Little Popo Agie River, approximately 23 miles south of Lander, Wyoming. With only four campsites, it offers a quiet, backcountry experience for visitors seeking solitude away from more developed recreation areas. The campground sits near the edge of the Popo Agie Wilderness, making it an ideal basecamp for day hiking, backpacking, and fishing. Each site has a picnic table and cook grate, and one vault toilet serves the campground. There is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. Food storage in the provided bear boxes is required due to active bear populations in the area. One site can accommodate small trailers under 16 feet; the remaining sites are tent-only. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations. The fee is $5 per night, payable by cash or check. Interagency Senior and Access pass holders receive a 50% discount. A 16-day stay limit applies. The area has no cell service. When the campground is officially closed for the season, walk-in camping is still permitted but no services or fee collection occur.
