Popo Agie Campground

Popo Agie Campground is situated in Sinks Canyon State Park at the base of the Wind River Mountains, approximately six miles southwest of Lander, Wyoming. The campground lines the Middle Fork of the Popo Agie River, providing excellent trout fishing access and serving as a basecamp for hiking trails throughout the canyon and into the Popo Agie Wilderness. The 24-site campground offers primitive camping with no hookups. Each site includes a fire pit and picnic table, with vault toilets and seasonal potable water available. The lower numbered sites are walk-in tent-only spots, while upper sites can accommodate small trailers and campers. Large RVs have very limited options here due to site size constraints. Four yurts in the upper campground area provide an alternative for those seeking shelter without bringing their own. The park's Visitor Center features a gift shop and interpretive displays about the unique geological phenomenon where the Popo Agie River disappears into a cavern at "The Sinks" and reemerges a quarter-mile downstream at "The Rise." Multiple hiking and biking trails explore the canyon, including access to backcountry wilderness areas.

From Lander, Wyoming, head south on Highway 131 (Sinks Canyon Road) for approximately 6 miles. The campground is located within Sinks Canyon State Park.
