Woodring Day Use Area Shelter (CL-11) is a reservable covered pavilion located on the shores of Carters Lake, approximately 70 miles north of Atlanta in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia. The shelter can accommodate up to 50 guests with parking capacity for 25 vehicles. Tables under the shelter are stationary and cannot be moved. The day use area includes restrooms, multiple picnic sites with stationary grills, and a two-lane boat launch ramp with a courtesy dock. Carters Lake covers 3,200 surface acres with 62 miles of undeveloped shoreline, offering opportunities for boating, fishing, and paddling. Popular fish species include largemouth, smallmouth, hybrid, striped, and spotted bass, along with crappie, walleye, bream, and catfish. This is strictly a day-use facility. Overnight camping is not available at this location. Campers seeking overnight accommodations should book at the nearby Woodring Branch Campground (RV sites with electric hookups) or Woodring Branch Primitive Campground (tent camping).

Directions

From Atlanta: Take I-75 North to Exit 293. Turn right onto GA-411 North and travel approximately 30 miles. Turn right onto GA-136 East, cross the railroad tracks, then turn left onto Old Highway 411 North. Continue approximately 6 miles and turn right onto Highway 76. Travel approximately 3.5 miles and turn right onto Woodring Branch Road. Proceed almost 5 miles and continue straight into Woodring Day Use Area.
