Doll Mountain Day Use Area Shelter

This is a day-use shelter only, not an overnight campground. The shelter is available for reservation via Recreation.gov. Operating hours are 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. A $5 entrance fee per vehicle is required. During peak season, the area may temporarily close when parking is full.

Doll Mountain Day Use Area Shelter is located on Carters Lake, approximately 70 miles north of Atlanta in the North Georgia Mountains. The reservable shelter accommodates up to 50 people and is ideal for family reunions, group picnics, and other large gatherings. Amenities include 8 picnic tables, a grill, and a shaded structure. The day-use area provides access to Carters Lake via a two-lane boat launching ramp. A fishing pier is available for anglers targeting bass, crappie, walleye, bream, and catfish. Restrooms are on site. Pets are permitted. This is a day-use only facility with no overnight camping. Operating hours are 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. A $5 entrance fee per vehicle is required in addition to any shelter reservation fee. The City of Ellijay is about 20 minutes away for restaurants, groceries, and fuel.

Directions

From Atlanta: Take Interstate 75 North to Exit 293, turn right onto Georgia Highway 411 North, travel approximately 30 miles. Turn right onto Georgia Highway 136 East, proceed approximately 5 miles, then turn left onto State Highway 382. Continue 3 miles and turn left onto Doll Mountain Road. Turn right onto Carters Landing Way and follow the road into the park.
