About
Woodring Branch Campground is located on Carters Lake in the North Georgia Mountains, operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District. The lake covers 3,200 surface acres with 62 miles of undeveloped shoreline, offering a quieter alternative to more developed Georgia lakes. The campground provides 42 single-family campsites, including 27 standard electric sites with water and 30/50-amp hookups, plus 14 tent-only nonelectric sites and one group camping area. Facilities include a comfort station with flush toilets, hot-water showers, and laundry machines. Drinking water, trash collection, and an RV dump station are provided. The campground has two boat ramps with trailer parking, a swimming area, playground, and horseshoe pits. Fishing on Carters Lake targets largemouth, smallmouth, spotted, striped, and hybrid bass, plus crappie, walleye, bream, and catfish. The Amadahy Trail begins at the campground and offers a 3.5-mile loop through woods with scenic lake views, suitable for hikers and mountain bikers of all skill levels. Oak Ridge Nature Trail provides an additional hiking option.
