About
Woodring Branch Campground sits on the shores of Carters Lake in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Located just 70 miles north of Atlanta, this heavily wooded campground offers a peaceful escape with clean, safe, and quiet surroundings ideal for families and outdoor enthusiasts. The campground features 42 developed sites with electric hookups and 12 primitive tent sites, many offering scenic views of the lake through the trees. Modern amenities include flush toilets, hot showers, drinking water, a dump station, children's playground, and a swimming area. Two boat ramps with limited trailer parking provide easy access to the lake's 3,200 surface acres and 62 miles of undeveloped shoreline. Recreational opportunities abound at Woodring Branch. Carters Lake is renowned for its solitude and scenic beauty, attracting boaters, paddlers, and anglers pursuing largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, spotted bass, striped bass, hybrid bass, crappie, walleye, bream, and catfish. The Amadahy Trail offers a 3.5-mile loop for hikers and mountain bikers with flat to rolling terrain and beautiful lake views, while the Oak Ridge Nature Trail provides a shorter one-mile hike through upland forests. The combination of water activities, trails, and peaceful wooded campsites makes Woodring Branch an excellent destination for summer camping in North Georgia.
