About

Lake Conasauga Overflow Campground is a small, primitive campground located in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest in northwest Georgia. Situated approximately one mile beyond the main Lake Conasauga Campground, it offers six non-reservable sites for tent camping and small trailers. The area sits at an elevation of 3,150 feet near Lake Conasauga, the highest elevation lake in Georgia. Each campsite is equipped with a tent pad, picnic table, fire ring, lantern post, and parking spur. Amenities are minimal: a vault toilet and bear-proof trash cans serve the entire campground. Campers must bring their own water as none is available on-site. The campground provides direct access to the Songbird Trail. The drive to the campground requires navigating over 15 miles of steep, narrow, winding gravel roads (Forest Service Roads 18 and 68). Travel trailers over 25 feet are not recommended. Alcohol is prohibited throughout the Lake Conasauga Recreation Area. Payment of $8 per night can be made via the Recreation.gov app QR code scan, or cash/check at the self-service fee tube.

Turn left to remain on FSR 68 and follow for 4-5 miles to the Lake Conasauga Recreation Area entrance. The overflow campground is approximately 1 mile past the main campground.
