Woodland Campground is a modest 6-site campground tucked just off Highway 204 in Oregon's Umatilla National Forest. Managed by the Walla Walla Ranger District, this low-key spot sits at an elevation that provides relief from summer heat while remaining accessible for most of the camping season. Sites feature picnic tables and fire pits, though campers should note there is no potable water available. The campground serves as a convenient base for exploring the Blue Mountains and the North Fork Umatilla Wilderness. Highway 204 makes access straightforward whether approaching from Weston (23 miles east) or Elgin (18 miles northwest). The light usage levels mean solitude is easy to find, making it ideal for those seeking a peaceful forest experience without crowds. The campground's simple amenities and affordable $8 per night fee make it well-suited for tent campers and those with smaller rigs looking for a no-frills forest camping experience.
