Hydrologic Outlook issued April 10 at 4:30PM PDT by NWS Pendleton OR

April 10th, 4:30 PM — 8:00 PM

ESFPDT Moderate rain this weekend in the Washington Cascades and northern Blue Mountains combined with snowmelt from above normal temperatures will lead to river rises this weekend and early next week. Most rivers are currently running at low levels and the increased streamflows will not be a problem. However, the Naches River at Cliffdell and at Naches are expected to rise above Action Stage early Saturday through Monday. The Grande Ronde River at Troy is expected to rise but stay barely below Action Stage Monday through Tuesday morning. Only localized minor flooding is expected. Please monitor the latest river forecasts from the National Weather Service for additional information.

About

Target Meadows Campground offers a unique blend of natural beauty and military history in the Umatilla National Forest. Located around a scenic meadow and surrounded by majestic Engelmann spruce and Lodgepole pine trees, the campground served as a summer encampment and artillery range for U.S. Army soldiers stationed at Fort Walla Walla from the late 1880s through 1906. Visitors can still find grooves in trees left by cavalry bullets while exploring the area. The campground features basic amenities including vault toilets, potable water (through September 30), picnic tables at each site, and fire pits. Sites can accommodate RVs and trailers, with a maximum of two vehicles per site. The campground operates primarily from June through November, with full services including water and trash collection available through early October. Recreational opportunities include hiking from the nearby Burnt Cabin Trailhead, which connects to the South Fork Walla Walla River Trail. The campground experiences light use and offers a peaceful setting in the Blue Mountains. Sites are available for reservation through Recreation.gov, though the campground remains accessible after services end in mid-October at no charge.
