About

Ruckel Junction Warming Shelter is a day-use facility located at approximately 4,459 feet elevation in the Blue Mountains of the Umatilla National Forest. The shelter sits at the road junction where Forest Service Road 31 meets the route toward Summit Guard Station, providing a stopping point for winter recreationists to warm up during snowmobile trips, cross-country skiing, or other cold-weather activities. This is not a campground or overnight rental facility. Like other warming shelters in the Umatilla National Forest, it is designed for temporary day-use only. Visitors seeking overnight accommodations in the area should consider the nearby Summit Guard Station Bunkhouse, which is a historic 1938 Civilian Conservation Corps cabin available for reservation through Recreation.gov.
