About

Mottet Campground is a small, tranquil primitive campground located at high elevation in the Umatilla National Forest. Situated along the historic Kendall-Skyline Road, it serves as a basecamp for hikers exploring the Wenaha-Tucannon Wilderness, with several trailheads in close proximity including the Mottet/Sinks Trail offering 4.5 miles of non-motorized access through mountain meadows and old-growth forest. The campground features six campsites with a vault toilet and the notable amenity of potable drinking water sourced from a mountain spring. This high-elevation location provides a secluded atmosphere away from crowds, with light usage typical throughout the season. The forest road access means this campground is best suited for tent camping and smaller vehicles rather than large RVs.
