Wolverton Stock Campsites is a specialized equestrian campground centrally located in Sequoia National Park, accessible via Wolverton Road off the Generals Highway. This unique facility is reserved exclusively for visitors camping with stock animals, and reservations without stock will be cancelled with full fees. The campground features two sites (upper and lower) that accommodate horse campers exploring the extensive trail network through the Giant Forest area. The campground sits at approximately 7,200 feet elevation in a forest of lodgepole pine and red fir, surrounded by towering giant sequoias and granite peaks of the Sierra Nevada. Campers have access to over 40 miles of equestrian trails through the Giant Forest and Lodgepole areas, including routes to iconic destinations like the General Sherman Tree. The nearby Marble Fork of the Kaweah River offers fly-fishing opportunities, and popular hiking destinations like Moro Rock and Tokopah Falls are within reach. The campground operates seasonally from approximately early June through mid-October, depending on snowpack conditions. Winter brings deep snow to this high-elevation area, closing the facility and transforming Wolverton into a winter recreation area. Each site includes corrals and hitching posts for stock animals, with a maximum stay of 7 nights per visit and 14 nights per season. This is an active bear area requiring proper food storage at all times.

Directions

Located off Generals Highway on Wolverton Road between Lodgepole Campground and Giant Forest in Sequoia National Park. Vehicles over 22 feet are not advised between Potwisha Campground and Giant Forest Museum when entering through Sequoia National Park. Vehicles over 22 feet should use the Kings Canyon National Park entrance.
