About

Potwisha Campground is located in the Sierra Foothills zone of Sequoia National Park at 2,100 feet elevation, where the grassy valley floor transitions to granite peaks. The campground sits along the Middle Fork of the Kaweah River beneath an open oak canopy, providing easy river access just across the road. Summers are hot and dry; winters are mild and usually snow-free. The campground has 42 sites accommodating tents, RVs, and trailers up to 24 feet, including pull-through options and two ADA-accessible sites. Each site features a picnic table, fire ring with grill, and bear-resistant food storage locker. Amenities include year-round flush toilets, potable water, and a free dump station across the highway. No hookups or showers are available. The Marble Falls trailhead starts at the campground, and the Giant Forest with its massive sequoias is about 45 minutes away. Crystal Cave tours are approximately an hour's drive. Wildlife sightings are common, including black bears, mule deer, and bobcats.

Directions

From Visalia, take Highway 198 east for 36 miles to the Ash Mountain Entrance Station. The campground is 3.7 miles beyond the entrance on the left (north) side of the Generals Highway.
