To provide for public safety and protect natural resources, using any type of motorized wheeled vehicle on the National Forest System roads the Exhibit and attached map, except persons using a tracked over-the-snow vehicle when there is a minimum of twelve inches of snow on the road.

About

Stony Creek Campground occupies a prime location in the Giant Sequoia National Monument within Sequoia National Forest, positioned along the scenic Generals Highway between Grant Grove (15 miles northwest) and Lodgepole Village (13 miles southeast). At 6,450 feet elevation, the campground stretches along Stony Creek through a mixed conifer forest of Sugar Pines, Jeffrey Pines, and Red Firs. The campground offers nearly 50 reservable sites, including single and double units, with amenities such as vault toilets, potable water, and an amphitheater. The location provides exceptional access to both Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, making it an ideal base for exploring Giant Forest, Moro Rock, Crystal Cave, and the massive General Sherman Tree. Nearby trails lead into the Jennie Lakes Wilderness region, and the Stony Creek Trailhead is easily accessible. Black bears are active in the area, and food storage regulations are strictly enforced. Stony Creek Lodge, located a half mile from the campground, provides public showers, groceries, a restaurant, gasoline, and a public phone. The campground is managed by ExplorUS under a Forest Service concessionaire permit.

Directions

From Grant Grove, travel southeast on Generals Highway (CA-180/198) for approximately 15 miles. The campground is located along the highway. From Lodgepole in Sequoia National Park, travel northwest on Generals Highway for approximately 13 miles.
