About

Upper Stony Creek Campground sits at 6,400 feet in the Sierra Nevada mountains within the Giant Sequoia National Monument. The campground is positioned along scenic Stony Creek, below Shell Mountain, and serves as a gateway to the Jennie Lakes Wilderness. Sites are a mix of tent and RV spurs accommodating vehicles up to 40 feet, spread among Douglas fir and Jeffrey pine forests. The 3.5-mile Stony Creek Trail begins at the campground and connects to the Jennie Lakes Trail, offering hiking and horseback riding opportunities. Hume Lake is nearby for fishing and non-motorized boating. Day trips to Kings Canyon National Park, Sequoia National Park, Boyden Caverns, and General Grant Grove are popular activities. Stony Creek Resort is located half a mile away, offering public showers, groceries, a restaurant, and gasoline. The campground is in black bear country, and proper food storage is mandatory.
