The campground is currently open and operates first-come, first-served. The typical season runs late May through late September. Quiet hours are 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Campfire permits are required.

About
Upper Stony Creek Campground sits at 6,400 feet in the Sierra Nevada mountains within the Giant Sequoia National Monument. The campground is positioned along scenic Stony Creek, below Shell Mountain, and serves as a gateway to the Jennie Lakes Wilderness. Sites are a mix of tent and RV spurs accommodating vehicles up to 40 feet, spread among Douglas fir and Jeffrey pine forests. The 3.5-mile Stony Creek Trail begins at the campground and connects to the Jennie Lakes Trail, offering hiking and horseback riding opportunities. Hume Lake is nearby for fishing and non-motorized boating. Day trips to Kings Canyon National Park, Sequoia National Park, Boyden Caverns, and General Grant Grove are popular activities. Stony Creek Resort is located half a mile away, offering public showers, groceries, a restaurant, and gasoline. The campground is in black bear country, and proper food storage is mandatory.
Directions
From Fresno, California, take Highway 180 east towards Kings Canyon/Sequoia Park. Take the Generals Highway fork to the right. After approximately 13 miles, the campground entrance will be on the left. The campground is 14 miles southeast of Grant Grove.
