About

Coy Flat Campground is a small, charming campground located within the Giant Sequoia National Monument at an elevation of 5,000 feet. Situated 20 miles east of Springville via State Highway 190 near Camp Nelson, the campground provides convenient access to the 4,666-acre Belknap Grove, one of the many magnificent giant sequoia groves found in Sequoia National Forest. The campground offers 19 single-family sites and one double-family site, each equipped with a fire ring or pedestal grill and picnic table. Vault toilets and potable water are available on-site. Some sites can accommodate RVs up to 22 feet, though limited turnaround space restricts vehicles longer than 26 feet. All sites are back-in style. Recreation opportunities abound, with hiking trails passing through nearby giant sequoia groves and the Bear Creek Trail ascending to 9,000 feet through diverse terrain. Year-round fishing is available on the Tule River and Bear Creek. Supplies and services can be found at Camp Nelson and Pierpoint Springs Resort, both located within 2 miles of the campground.

Directions

From Highway 99, go east on Highway 190 to Springville. Continue on Highway 190 for 15 miles to Nelson Drive. Exit on Coy Flat Road and drive 1.5 miles to the campground.
