About

Rolfe C. Hoyer Campground sits at 8,300 feet elevation in the White Mountains of eastern Arizona, surrounded by a mature ponderosa pine forest. The campground is a favorite among families and seniors due to its peaceful setting, spacious sites, and proximity to excellent fishing. The nearly 100 campsites are spread across multiple loops including Hoyer, Grouse, Beaver, Wildcat, Bear, and Turkey, with gravel roads and parking pads throughout. The Greer Lakes and Little Colorado River are within walking distance, making this an ideal base for anglers. Sites include fire rings and picnic tables, and bundled firewood and ice are available for purchase from the on-site campground host. The facility includes vault toilets, shower facilities, and a dump station. However, potable water is not available at the campground; campers should fill up in Greer where gas, groceries, and restaurants are also available. Bears frequent the area, so proper food storage is required. The high elevation can affect visitors traveling from lower elevations, so acclimatization is recommended.
